This special semi-postal series, titled "Für den Sport 1994" (For Sport 1994), was issued by the Deutsche Bundespost on February 10, 1994. The surcharges from these stamps support the Stiftung Deutsche Sporthilfe, which aids social tasks across all areas of sport. Designed by Professor Fritz Lüdtke, the set commemorates four major international sporting events and milestones.

The series includes:

80+40 Pf – Olympic Winter Games 1994: Honoring the 17th Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway. This marked the first time the Winter Games were held in a different year than the Summer Games following a 1986 IOC decision.

100+50 Pf – FIFA World Cup 1994: Marking the 15th World Cup held in the USA. The stamp features the World Cup trophy and a football, noting that Germany entered the tournament as the defending champion.

100+50 Pf – Centenary of the IOC: Celebrating the 100th anniversary of the International Olympic Committee, founded on June 23, 1894, in Paris by Pierre de Coubertin.

200+80 Pf – Paralympics Lillehammer 1994: Commemorating the 6th Winter Paralympics, featuring athletes from 31 nations competing in 10 disciplines.

The official Ersttagsblatt (5/1994) features a first-day-of-issue cancellation from Bonn, displaying the iconic Olympic rings.
