This elegant collection features the 1991 semi-postal series titled "Für die Wohlfahrtspflege" (For Welfare Care), issued by the Deutsche Bundespost. The set continues a thematic series celebrating "Historische Posthäuser in Deutschland" (Historical Post Houses in Germany). Designed by artist Karin Blume-Zander, the stamps depict architectural landmarks of postal history, including the Post Offices of Bethel, Stralsund, Bonn, and Weilburg, as well as the post stations of Büdingen and Lauscha.

Issued on October 10, 1991, these stamps include a surcharge to support independent welfare organizations, blending a commitment to social causes with a tribute to the evolution of the German postal system. Each stamp is preserved on an official Ersttagsblatt with a first-day-of-issue postmark from Bonn, featuring a vintage mailbox motif from 1891.
