This unique souvenir block, titled "Für uns Kinder" (For Us Children), was issued by the Deutsche Bundespost on September 8, 1994. Designed by Lou Romboy, the block features a central 100 Pfennig stamp surrounded by a whimsical border of mythical and fable-inspired creatures.
The documentation on the reverse of the Ersttagsblatt (First Day Sheet) explains the artistic intent behind the issue:
Theme: The design draws upon the tradition of fables and mythical beings that have existed since antiquity, meant to spark the rich imagination of children.
Visual Elements: The central stamp depicts a child riding a friendly, brightly colored dragon.
Marginal Illustrations: The surrounding border includes charming "fable beings," such as a dragon-like creature, a pig-cow hybrid, a squirrel-dog, and a frog-headed figure, all intended to delight young collectors.
